Oil-absorbing felt is made from inert chemical polypropylene using the melt-blown process, enabling it to effectively absorb liquids. The adsorption products are encased in polypropylene fibers or non-woven fabrics that have been surface-activated and sewn together with thread. The outer layer fabric is exceptionally strong and durable, featuring powerful capillary absorption capabilities. As a result, oil-absorbing felt exhibits outstanding adsorption performance, efficiently drawing leaked liquids into the absorbent cotton and effectively preventing the spread of the leak. After being twisted and extruded, these products can be reused multiple times. Now, let’s take a closer look at the characteristics and specifications of oil-absorbing felt.

Oil-absorbing felt is polypropylene oil-absorbing cotton produced by meltblown nonwoven technology. It features a high oil-absorption capacity, maintains its shape even after fully saturated with oil, does not loosen or fall apart, and is easy to retrieve. This oil-absorbing felt is widely used for oil removal operations on sea surfaces, in harbors, and on lake waters, as well as for the purification of wastewater from factories and ships. In particular, it is an ideal material for cleaning up oil spills at sea.

Basic performance parameters of oil-absorbing felt:

  1. Oil-absorbing felt has a high oil absorption capacity (10 to 20 times its own weight).

  2. Oil-absorbing felt absorbs oil quickly (measured in minutes).

  3. Floatable, suitable for industrial or marine applications.

  4. Clean, lightweight, and fast

  5. After absorbing the leaked liquid, it can be squeezed out and reused.

  6. Resistant to chemical reactions (chemical resistance)

  7. No decomposition or deterioration, safe and environmentally friendly, non-flammable, and mold-resistant.

  8. It can be incinerated or co-processed with fuel; after high-temperature incineration, the ash residue is reduced to just 0.02%.

  9. Free of dust and abrasive particles, it does not affect the normal operation of equipment and does not damage expensive machinery.

  Oil-absorbing felt characteristics:

  1. Oil-absorbing felt has strong oil-affinity and water-repelling properties, absorbing only oil on and in the water surface while virtually not absorbing any water.

  2. Oil-absorbing felt can be used with a variety of oils and fats, and the oil is not easily adsorbed or detached.

  3. It can instantly absorb oil, with an oil absorption capacity exceeding 10 times its own weight.

  4. The oil-absorbing felt is non-toxic and odorless, does not contaminate aquatic products, and produces no toxic gases when incinerated.

  5. The oil-absorbing felt is reusable and remains unchanged when stored long-term.

  6. Melting point: 165–170°C; operating temperature: below 120°C.

  7. Specifications: 1.2 x 2.4 m per sheet, typically 5 mm thick; can be manufactured to a thickness of 4–8 mm upon customer request.

  8. Packaging: Flat fabric packaging—20 kg per package. Package dimensions: 50 x 50 x 50 cm. The specific gravity of the umbrella material is 90 kg/m³. The PP-1 oil-absorbing mat is suitable for absorbing light oils as well as various chemicals with lower specific gravity and high volatility.

  9. Oil-absorbing felt is suitable for adsorbing oils with higher viscosity.
