Oil-absorbing felt, as its name suggests, is a type of felt designed specifically to absorb oil stains. However, the oil-absorbing felt currently in use is made from PP—polypropylene meltblown material processed through a special technique, giving it the unique property of absorbing only oil stains while repelling water and other liquids. Today, oil-absorbing felt has become a backup material for emergency oil-spill prevention devices at sea. Together with oil booms, oil dispersants, oil skimmers, and other oil-containment equipment, it plays a crucial role in handling oil spills.

Oil-absorbing felt can absorb oil stains several times its own weight and does not produce secondary pollution when burned.
Oil-absorbing felt is made from oil-loving ultrafine fiber nonwoven fabric, capable of rapidly absorbing oil stains weighing dozens of times its own weight. Moreover, it does not absorb water. Oil-absorbing felt features low specific gravity, light weight, buoyancy on water, resistance to deformation, stability after oil absorption, immunity to temperature fluctuations, acid- and alkali-resistance, non-corrosiveness, and ease of storage. It is widely used in industries such as mechanical manufacturing, aerospace, and petrochemicals for oil spill cleanup: removing oil slicks from water surfaces, cleaning large amounts of oil contamination from batteries, ship hulls, and other areas, recovering oil spills on sea surfaces, and preventing the spread of oil spills from tank trucks, oil tanks, and oil containers.

Oil-absorbing felt characteristics
1. It has a low specific gravity and can float on the surface of water.
2. It has multiple gaps and is lipophilic, with strong oil-absorbing performance but poor water absorption. During the oil-absorption process, the oil-absorbing felt can also drain water.
3. Acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, and chemically corrosion-resistant, with minimal harmful gas emissions upon combustion.
4. Excellent oil-retention performance and can be reused repeatedly.
5. Suitable for adsorbing light oils and most chemical liquid products with relatively low specific gravity.
6. Oil-absorbing felt Suitable for adsorbing high-viscosity oils.
